Hi, I'm Anne Catherine. If you're new here, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I'm a prenatal and postpartum yoga teacher, postpartum doula, women's health educator, and the founder of Anne Catherine Yoga & Doula Care. For more than a decade, I've specialized in supporting women through pregnancy, birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and the many transitions that come with motherhood. My work combines evidence-informed movement, core and pelvic floor rehabilitation, nervous system regulation, and something I believe is just as essential: community. I'm also a seasoned mother of two and have been parenting for nearly 20 years. Long before I became a teacher, I was learning firsthand about the joys, challenges, uncertainties, and transformations that motherhood brings. Supporting women isn't just my profession. It's my life's work. Recently, I experienced one of the biggest transitions of my own life. After 18 years of marriage, I made the difficult decision to leave and create a different future for myself and my children. It wasn't easy. But I wanted my children to grow up seeing a mother who trusted herself, valued herself, and had the courage to choose a healthier path forward, even when it meant starting over. Today, I am happier, stronger, and more aligned with who I am than ever before. I am building a life rooted in authenticity, purpose, connection, and service. That experience has deepened my understanding of resilience, healing, and what it means to find your way back to yourself. It has also made me profoundly grateful for this community. Every woman who attends a class, hires me as her doula, joins a workshop, shares my work, or recommends me to a friend is helping me continue building a business and life that I truly love. I never take that support for granted. Whether you're preparing for birth, recovering postpartum, navigating women's health challenges, or simply looking for a supportive place to move, heal, and connect, I would be honored to be part of your journey. Who's making sure you're eating enough, resting enough, healing well, and receiving the support your body needs after growing and birthing a human? As a culture, we've become very good at preparing for birth. But we've forgotten how to care for mothers. Whether you're pregnant, newly postpartum, or years into motherhood, your body matters. Your recovery matters. Your wellbeing matters. Motherhood changes everything—including your physical body, your nervous system, your identity, and your daily life. Yet so many women are expected to navigate these changes alone. You deserve support. You deserve someone who understands the demands pregnancy, birth, and postpartum place on your body. You deserve care that focuses on you, not just your baby. Through in-home support, movement, recovery care, yoga, and doula services, I help women reconnect with their bodies, build confidence, and feel supported during one of life's biggest transitions. Can I share something a little personal? I've been teaching Women's Health + Prenatal Yoga and Postpartum Yoga with Baby for more than a decade. I've supported hundreds of women throughout Boulder County through pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood, and I have loved that work deeply. But I've also spent years wanting to create a space like this right here in Lafayette. This is where I live. This is where my community is. And this is where I've always hoped to support women more directly. Over the years, I've often felt that pregnancy and postpartum classes were treated as an "extra" within the wellness world. But supporting women through this transition has never felt extra to me. It's some of the most important work I know. I believe mothers deserve spaces where questions are welcome, babies are welcome, and support matters as much as movement. For the first time, I feel like I have a space that truly reflects that vision. Every Wednesday, I unlock the door, make tea, and wonder who might walk through it that day. A pregnant mother preparing for birth. A new mom needing connection. Someone looking for support. Someone who simply needs a place to exhale. And honestly, I think we're at the beginning of creating something really special. Not just classes. A community. If you've been thinking about coming, I'd love to have you there. If you're a yoga teacher, would you know how to safely support a pregnant or postpartum student in your class? Most teacher trainings spend very little time discussing pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic floor health, trauma-informed teaching, or scope of practice. Yet many of us will work with pregnant and postpartum students throughout our teaching careers. The reality is that a postpartum body can appear strong on the outside while still healing internally. A pregnant student may not know which movements are appropriate for them. And many students assume that if a pose is being taught in class, it must be safe for their body. As teachers, that's a responsibility we shouldn't take lightly. Feeling extra tired, headachy, dizzy, or just a little "off" lately? If you're pregnant or postpartum, it's easy to assume those symptoms are simply part of the journey. Sometimes they are. But especially during summer—and especial
Feeling extra tired, headachy, dizzy, or just a little "off" lately? If you're pregnant or postpartum, it's easy to assume those symptoms are simply part of the journey. Sometimes they are. But especially during summer—and especially here in Colorado—dehydration may be contributing more than you realize. Pregnancy and postpartum naturally increase your hydration needs. Your body is working hard to support increased blood volume, circulation, digestion, temperature regulation, amniotic fluid, healing, recovery, and, for many mothers, milk production. That's a tremendous amount of work. What often surprises people is that dehydration doesn't always show up as obvious thirst. It can contribute to: 🤍 Fatigue 🤍 Headaches 🤍 Dizziness 🤍 Constipation 🤍 Muscle cramping 🤍 Brain fog 🤍 Reduced milk supply Many of these symptoms are often dismissed as "just pregnancy" or "just postpartum" when the body may actually be asking for more support. One of the biggest shifts I wish more women understood is this: Pregnancy and postpartum are seasons of increased need. More nourishment. More hydration. More rest. More support. Not less. And hydration is about more than simply drinking water. Minerals, nourishing foods, healthy fats, and water-rich fruits and vegetables all play important roles in helping your body function at its best. I recently wrote an article exploring hydration during pregnancy and postpartum, including why hydration needs increase, signs of dehydration that are often overlooked, and practical ways to support your body in Colorado's dry climate. 10 things nobody tells moms about getting back to exercise: 1. Peeing your pants during a workout isn’t a badge of honor. 2. Core weakness isn’t something you can out-plank. 3. More intensity isn’t always the answer. 4. Your pelvic floor deserves attention too. 5. Being exhausted doesn’t automatically mean you’re getting stronger. 6. Recovery matters. 7. Breath matters. 8. Symptoms matter. 9. Small-group support can be more valuable than another workout challenge. 10. Your body isn’t asking to be pushed harder. Sometimes it’s asking to be understood.
