The diaphragm shifts, the pelvic floor must coordinate with breath, and intra-abdominal pressure becomes especially important for both birth and postpartum recovery. A specialized prenatal yoga practice integrates breath mechanics, pelvic mobility, nervous system regulation, and functional movement designed for pregnancy. Pregnancy isn’t just a time to stay active. Pregnancy isn’t just about staying strong. It’s about learning how your body works and working with it. What many people don’t realize is that these principles have existed in yoga traditions for centuries. Breath regulation, squatting, pelvic mobility, and nervous system awareness are long-standing elements of yoga practice. Prenatal yoga simply integrates these elements within a broader framework designed to support pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. In recent years, many new birth-prep fitness programs have begun teaching similar ideas through a fitness lens. It’s wonderful to see greater awareness of how movement and breath support pregnancy. But these concepts are not new. They are part of a long tradition of practices that women have used to support their bodies through pregnancy and birth.

But pregnancy is a profound physiological transition. The body changes week by week as the baby grows. Breath mechanics shift. The pelvis adapts. The nervous system is working in entirely new ways. A truly supportive prenatal yoga practice is designed specifically for pregnancy. In my classes we focus on: • breath and diaphragm function • pelvic mobility and stability • nervous system regulation • functional movement for daily life • preparation for birth • preparation for postpartum recovery This work is informed by more than 25 years of personal yoga practice and a decade of teaching perinatal yoga. My goal isn’t to teach impressive poses. My goal is to help you understand your body during pregnancy so you can move through birth and postpartum with greater awareness, confidence, and support.

Rather than focusing on achieving poses, prenatal yoga helps students understand how their bodies work during pregnancy. Pregnancy deserves more than a modified workout. It deserves a practice designed specifically for it. My prenatal yoga classes aren’t modified yoga classes. They are yoga classes designed specifically for pregnancy.

In fact, the earlier you begin supporting your body and nervous system during pregnancy, the more comfortable those months often feel. Pregnancy is not just about the final weeks before birth. It is nine months of gradual change — your breath, your pelvis, your core, your sleep, your emotions, your sense of identity. The earlier we begin listening to the body, the easier it becomes to work with those changes instead of feeling surprised by them. This is one of the reasons I designed the Sacred Prenatal Women’s Circle to welcome women from conception all the way to birth. Every stage of pregnancy belongs in the circle.
