Postpartum was never meant to be a race back to who you were before.

Somewhere along the way, mothers were taught that healing means shrinking, tightening, exercising, producing, and “getting back” as quickly as possible.

But postpartum
Postpartum was never meant to be a race back to who you were before. Somewhere along the way, mothers were taught that healing means shrinking, tightening, exercising, producing, and “getting back” as quickly as possible. But postpartum is not a quick recovery. It is a major rite of passage. You spent nine months growing a baby. Why do we expect the body, mind, and nervous system to restore in a matter of weeks? The truth is, postpartum care is not about fixing symptoms. It is about restoring flow. Grounding the nervous system. Replenishing what was poured out. Protecting the sacred transformation taking place within a mother. So many women are carrying silent pressure to bounce back before they’ve even had the chance to land. To exercise before they feel nourished. To perform before they feel supported. To keep going while their bodies are still asking for rest. But healing does not happen through pressure. It happens through safety. Through warm meals. Deep rest. Gentle support. Regulated nervous systems. Being witnessed and cared for instead of rushed. A mother does not need to be “fixed” after birth. She needs space to heal, integrate, and be held through one of the most profound transitions of her life. What if postpartum was treated less like a deadline… and more like a sacred season of restoration? What if mothers felt permission to soften instead of push? What if we honored postpartum the way it deserves to be honored? To every mother feeling the pressure to bounce back: You are allowed to slow down. You are allowed to need support. You are allowed to heal in your own timing. And that is not weakness. That is wisdom. Share this with a mama who needs to hear it today. 🌿

One of the most common things I hear is: “I don’t know if I’m ready yet.” And I get it. Postpartum can feel uncertain. Your body feels different. You’re not sure what’s “too much” or “not enough.” That’s exactly why this space exists. You don’t need to be further along. You don’t need to feel stronger. You don’t need to have it figured out. You just need to show up. Everything else… we move through together 💛
If you’re pregnant or just had a baby and thinking…

You’re not wrong.

If you’re pregnant or just had a baby and thinking… “I just need someone to help me keep things together…” You’re not wrong. Preparing for a baby — and recovering after one arrives — can feel like a lot to hold all at once. The home. The baby. Your body. Your energy. And while it might feel like you just need a little help… What often makes the biggest difference is the right kind of support. Support that allows you to: ✨ rest and recover ✨ feel cared for, not just productive ✨ settle into life with your baby ✨ not carry everything on your own 💛 That’s what postpartum care is meant to offer. If you’re pregnant or preparing for postpartum and want to explore what this kind of support can look like, you can learn more here: https://www.annecatherineyoga.com/concious-perinatal-doula-services Or comment “Pregnant” or “New Mom” and I’ll send details your way.
