There are many wonderful ways to stay active during pregnancy. Strength training and prenatal fitness programs can support overall health, circulation, and mobility. But preparing the body for birth involves more than maintaining fitness. Birth requires coordination between breath, the diaphragm, the pelvic floor, and the nervous system. These systems work together throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. A specialized prenatal yoga practice is designed around these changes in the body. Rather than focusing only on strength and exercise, prenatal yoga integrates breath, functional movement, pelvic mobility, and nervous system regulation to support the full transition into motherhood. Pregnancy isn’t just about staying fit. It’s about preparing the body for birth.

Personal trainers bring incredible knowledge about strength, movement, and overall fitness. But pregnancy introduces physiological changes that are often not covered in standard fitness training. The diaphragm shifts, the pelvic floor must coordinate with breath, and intra-abdominal pressure becomes especially important for both birth and postpartum recovery. A specialized prenatal yoga practice integrates breath mechanics, pelvic mobility, nervous system regulation, and functional movement designed for pregnancy. Pregnancy isn’t just a time to stay active. Pregnancy isn’t just about staying strong. It’s about learning how your body works and working with it. This would land well with your audience: Pregnancy isn’t just about staying strong. It’s about learning how your body works.

Many modern prenatal fitness programs teach valuable concepts such as breath mechanics, pelvic mobility, and functional movement. These ideas are incredibly important for pregnancy and birth. What many people don’t realize is that these principles have existed in yoga traditions for centuries. Breath regulation, squatting, pelvic mobility, and nervous system awareness are long-standing elements of yoga practice. Prenatal yoga simply integrates these elements within a broader framework designed to support pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. In recent years, many new birth-prep fitness programs have begun teaching similar ideas through a fitness lens. It’s wonderful to see greater awareness of how movement and breath support pregnancy. But these concepts are not new. They are part of a long tradition of practices that women have used to support their bodies through pregnancy and birth.

Prenatal yoga is often misunderstood as simply “gentle exercise.” But research shows that yoga offers benefits that go beyond general fitness during pregnancy. Studies have found that prenatal yoga can help reduce anxiety, improve sleep, decrease pregnancy discomfort, and even support labor outcomes. This is why prenatal yoga is considered a specialized practice—one that integrates breath, movement, and nervous system regulation in ways that support the unique physiology of pregnancy. Yoga designed for pregnancy. Exactly as it should be.

One of the most common questions I hear is: “Is it too early in pregnancy to join?” or “Am I already too far along?” The truth is — it’s never too early and never too late to support your pregnancy. The Sacred Prenatal Women’s Circle welcomes women in every stage of pregnancy, from conception through the final weeks before birth. Each stage of pregnancy brings something meaningful to the circle. Women earlier in pregnancy are beginning their journey. Women further along share wisdom and experience from the path they are already walking. Together we explore: • gentle yoga and functional movement • core and pelvic floor awareness • comfort measures for labor • preparation for postpartum • conversation and reflection in a supportive circle Pregnancy changes quickly, but the relationships formed in these spaces often last much longer. 🌿 Six-week closed circle 🌿 Begins March 23 in Boulder 🌿 Small group to keep the circle intimate Learn more: LINK IN BIO

Many prenatal yoga classes are created by modifying a regular yoga class so pregnant students can safely participate. Those classes can still be supportive. But pregnancy is a profound physiological transition. The body changes week by week as the baby grows. Breath mechanics shift. The pelvis adapts. The nervous system is working in entirely new ways. A truly supportive prenatal yoga practice is designed specifically for pregnancy. In my classes we focus on: • breath and diaphragm function • pelvic mobility and stability • nervous system regulation • functional movement for daily life • preparation for birth • preparation for postpartum recovery This work is informed by more than 25 years of personal yoga practice and a decade of teaching perinatal yoga. My goal isn’t to teach impressive poses. My goal is to help you understand your body during pregnancy so you can move through birth and postpartum with greater awareness, confidence, and support.

Many people think of yoga as a fast-paced vinyasa class focused on poses and flexibility. But prenatal yoga is a specialized practice designed specifically for the physiological changes of pregnancy. As the baby grows, the diaphragm shifts, the rib cage adapts, and the pelvis becomes more mobile. These changes affect breathing, core coordination, and pelvic floor function. A supportive prenatal yoga practice works with these changes by integrating breath mechanics, pelvic mobility, nervous system regulation, and functional movement. Rather than focusing on achieving poses, prenatal yoga helps students understand how their bodies work during pregnancy. Pregnancy deserves more than a modified workout. It deserves a practice designed specifically for it. My prenatal yoga classes aren’t modified yoga classes. They are yoga classes designed specifically for pregnancy.

One of my favorite things about teaching prenatal yoga is seeing the connections that form between women. Over the years, former students often stop me around town and tell me they are still friends with the women they met in class. They’ve walked through pregnancy together. They’ve welcomed their babies. Their children grow up alongside one another. Some of these friendships are still going strong nearly ten years later. That kind of connection matters. The Sacred Prenatal Women’s Circle is designed to nurture that sense of community — a small, consistent group of pregnant women gathering weekly to support one another through this transformative time. Women join the circle in all stages of pregnancy, from early weeks to the final trimester. Because it’s never too early — and never too late — to surround yourself with support. ✨ Begins March 23 ✨ Boulder Learn more: LINK IN BIO
